Why Choose Our AI Face Enhancement

Face Restoration

GFPGAN reconstructs degraded faces from blurry, pixelated, or low-resolution sources, recovering the kind of detail that standard sharpening filters cannot create.

Detail Enhancement

Eye whites, iris detail, individual hair strands, pore structure, and lip texture are all sharpened while staying within the plausible range for the original face.

Natural Results

GFPGAN draws on a pre-trained facial GAN to guide reconstruction, so the enhanced face looks like a better-photographed version of the same person rather than a generic AI face.

Instant Processing

Most faces are processed and ready to download within 10-15 seconds. No queue, no waiting for a render farm.

GFPGAN Neural Network

GFPGAN stands for Generative Facial Prior GAN. Unlike a generic sharpening algorithm, it was built specifically for faces. During training it internalized thousands of high-resolution portrait details, so when given a degraded face it can infer what the eyes, skin, and hair should look like rather than just amplifying existing pixel data.

The model uses those learned priors as a guide during reconstruction, filling in plausible detail where the input is too low-resolution or damaged to carry it. A blurry face from a 20-year-old JPEG can come back with legible eyelashes and clear skin texture because the model knows what faces look like, not just because it brightened the pixels.

Frequently Asked Questions

GFPGAN was trained on high-resolution face data, so it learned what clear, detailed faces look like. When you upload a blurry or degraded portrait, the model compares it against those learned priors and fills in realistic detail: sharper eyes, defined skin texture, cleaner hair. It does not just sharpen edges — it reconstructs what was lost.

JPG, PNG, and WebP are all accepted. File size limit is 10MB. There is no strict minimum resolution, but the more facial detail the input carries, the better the restoration. A completely pixelated 20x20 pixel crop will produce a plausible face but not a forensically accurate one.

Most portraits complete in 10-15 seconds. Larger files or images with multiple faces take a bit longer. A progress bar shows the status so you are not left guessing.

Uploaded portraits are processed in memory and not stored on disk after the session ends. Your photos are not used to retrain the model or shared with any third party. The enhanced result lives only in your browser until you download it.

Results depend on the input. A slightly soft portrait from a decent camera will come back with noticeably sharper eyes and cleaner skin. A heavily compressed or very low-resolution photo will see bigger improvement in detail recovery, though extreme damage has limits. The model does not invent faces, it restores plausible detail based on what it knows faces look like.

One image at a time. After you download the enhanced result, upload the next photo. Each portrait goes through the full GFPGAN restoration pipeline independently.

None. Upload your photo and click enhance. The model handles everything, including face detection, prior-guided reconstruction, and output rendering. No sliders, no parameters, no Photoshop.

The enhanced image downloads as a JPG. Resolution is preserved from the input, so if you uploaded a 2000px portrait you will get a 2000px result back.

Yes. You own the photo you uploaded, and the enhanced version belongs to you. Use it anywhere you would use the original: social media, print, business profiles, or publications.

Yes, and this is one of the strongest use cases for GFPGAN. Scanned family photos from film cameras are often soft, faded, or compressed. The model can recover a lot of the facial detail that was lost to age or low scan resolution. Results vary with print quality and scan DPI, but most old portraits improve significantly.
