Plandex is a command-line AI coding agent built for complex, multi-file development work that overwhelms simpler tools. It keeps AI-generated changes in a sandboxed diff until you are ready to apply them, supports up to 2 million tokens of context with tree-sitter project maps for large codebases, and lets you mix models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and open-source providers. Version control with branching, automated debugging for terminal commands, and a chat mode for brainstorming round out the workflow. Plandex is open-source under the MIT license and runs in self-hosted mode using your own API keys.
