OpenDevin
Open-source autonomous software engineering agent that reads codebases, writes code, runs tests, and fixes bugs with minimal human direction.
About
OpenDevin, now developed under the name OpenHands, is a community-built AI software engineer that operates inside a sandboxed environment with access to a shell, a browser, and a code editor. You describe a task and it plans and executes the steps autonomously: reading files, writing and running code, browsing documentation, and iterating on failures.
The project supports multiple LLM backends including GPT-4, Claude, and locally hosted models. It is free to self-host and targets developers who want an open alternative to proprietary coding agents. Active development is ongoing with a growing contributor community.
