LM Studio gives you a simple graphical interface to browse, download, and chat with hundreds of open-source language models directly on your own computer, with no internet connection needed after the initial download. It includes an OpenAI-compatible local API server so developers can point existing apps at local models with minimal code changes, and it supports Apple Silicon via MLX for fast on-device inference on Macs. Command-line tools and SDKs for JavaScript and Python are also available for teams building automated pipelines. The software is free for personal and commercial use.
