Goose is a free, open-source AI agent built by Block (the company behind Square) and governed by the Linux Foundation's Agentic AI Foundation. It goes well beyond code suggestions by actually running, editing, and testing code, browsing files, conducting research, and automating multi-step workflows. You can connect it to over 70 tools through the Model Context Protocol and point it at any of 15-plus AI providers, including Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and local models via Ollama. It runs as a native desktop app on macOS, Linux, and Windows, or as a command-line tool. Goose is fully free and open source with no usage fees.
