Fabric is a free, open-source tool built for developers and technically minded users who want structured, repeatable ways to apply AI to specific jobs like summarizing content, extracting ideas, writing analyses, or building custom pipelines. Instead of crafting prompts from scratch each time, users draw from a growing library of community-contributed Patterns and pipe content through them from the terminal. It connects to more than twenty AI providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and local models via Ollama, and also exposes a REST API and web interface. The framework itself costs nothing; users pay only for the underlying AI provider they choose to use.
