Unlike coding copilots that suggest lines as you type, Devin takes a task description and works independently in a cloud-based IDE: it reads the codebase, writes a plan, implements changes, runs tests, debugs failures, and iterates until the job is done. Devin 2.0 added interactive planning for collaborative scoping, the ability to run multiple concurrent Devins in parallel, and a wiki generator that documents architecture automatically.
