Cline is a free, open-source extension for Visual Studio Code that adds an autonomous coding agent to your editor. You describe a task in plain language and Cline reads relevant files, writes or edits code across multiple files, runs terminal commands, and uses a browser for testing, pausing to ask for your approval before anything irreversible. Because it runs locally and uses your own API keys for the underlying model, you control costs and data. It supports any model accessible via OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI, and other providers.
